Yasmin Diya, a first-year student at Al-Ahfad University, School of Psychology has been kidnapped by an unidentified force and placed, according to a credible witness, inside a white Toyata Corolla on the night of Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in Omdurman, Sudan.
Yasmin was kidnapped in front of her family’s house. tricking her with a phone call from a colleague who was asking for help with small amount of money urgently. Eyewitnesses reported that they saw her colleague threatened at gunpoint in a Toyota Land Cruiser parked near the white Corolla that was used in the kidnapping.
Emergency attorneys were able to locate Ms. Yasmin whereabout. She is held in Khartoum North (Bahri) detention center, Sudan, without a legitimate reason and her family weren’t allowed to see or talk to her.
- Sudan Human Rights Network (SHRN) strongly condemns the unlawful kidnaps and arrests of civilians by security apparatuses in Sudan
- SHRN is deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of Ms. Yasmin and other detainees, and demands that Ministry of Justice to order the security apparatuses to reveal the whereabouts of the detainees immediately and either to charge them in accordance with the law or immediately and unconditionally release them
- Sudan Human Rights Network (SHRN) is deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of Ms. Yasmin and urge Sudanese authorities to immediately and unconditionally release her.
