The Sudan Human Rights Network (SHRN) invites the international community, in particular the Office of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), to take the necessary measures to put an end to the widespread human rights violations in Sudan and:

• Warns that any arbitrary arrest and detention constitutes an offense under domestic and international law

• Calls for the guarantees of the good treatment of prisoners of conscience and their right to communicate with their families and lawyers and to provide any medical care they need

• SHRN is deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of Dr. Saad al-Aqib and other detainees and demands that they either be charged under the law or immediately and unconditionally released.
