Mr. Taj Alsir was a member of the Information Committee for the Khartoum University students sit in.\u00a0 It is believed that his arrest was related to his recent student activities in the Khartoum University students sit ins . Security elements in an\u00a0 NISS vehicle intercepted a public transport mini bus he was boarding from Khartoum North to Khartoum and took him to an undisclosed location. His family was not\u00a0 notified of the arrest nor was he afforded access to a lawyer. Upon persistent demands from his family, NISS admitted on January 15, 2012 that Mr. Taj Alsir was in their custody. He was allowed a short visit by his family in Kober Prison.
