Today, as the world marks International Women’s Day, we honor women’s resilience, courage, and invaluable contributions to shaping societies and advancing justice, equality, and peace.

On this occasion, we pay special tribute to Sudanese women, who have long been at the forefront of struggle and transformation. They have not merely witnessed history—they have shaped it, leading movements for justice, democracy, and human rights despite enduring systemic oppression and adversity.

This year’s International Women’s Day comes amid one of the darkest chapters in Sudan’s history. The ongoing war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces has unleashed unprecedented human suffering, and Sudanese women have borne the heaviest burden. Displacement, violence, loss, and deprivation have defined their daily reality. Over 55% of the displaced population are women and girls, forced to flee their homes and live in inhumane conditions, struggling for survival in the absence of security, healthcare, and basic necessities.

Women in Sudan are facing systematic gender-based violence, with rape and other forms of sexual violence being used as weapons of war. They have lost loved ones, homes, and opportunities, yet they continue to fight—not only for their survival but for a future where justice, peace, and dignity prevail.

Today, we salute the unwavering strength of Sudanese women, who, despite unimaginable hardship, remain on the frontlines advocating for peace and justice. We recognize and commend Sudanese women’s organizations, who, despite threats and dangers, continue their vital work to support victims, document atrocities, and demand accountability.

On this day, we call upon the international community to take urgent action to protect Sudanese women from war crimes and gross human rights violations, ensure justice for survivors, and hold perpetrators accountable. We reaffirm our demand for an immediate end to the war and for a comprehensive, just, and inclusive peace that safeguards the rights and dignity of all Sudanese women.

To every Sudanese woman: You are Sudan’s heartbeat, the pillar of its resilience, and the architects of its future. Your courage is a testament to the unbreakable spirit of the Sudanese people. Today, we stand with you, honor you, and promise your sacrifices will never be forgotten.

Happy International Women’s Day.
May your strength inspire generations to come, and may your voices continue to shape a Sudan built on justice, peace, and equality.
