Sudan Human Rights Network (SHRN) is deeply concerned by ongoing arbitrary detention by Sudanese authorities of peaceful civil society members and activists;

On Monday, December 22, 2014, Mr. Abu Eisa was transferred from NISS detention center to Kobar main prison. Mr. Abu Eisa who is in his early eighties suffers from several illnesses including diabetic, heart condition and cyanosis. He needs permanent medical attention which denied by the authorities.

SHRN learned from close relatives that Mr. Abu Eisa was rushed to the hospital as he suffered from cardiac arrhythmia. Also, as a result of the poor condition of his detention, lack of adequate medical treatment Mr. Abu Eisa health continue to deteriorate, his lack of appropriate diet resulted in loss of appetite. Mr. Abu Eisa was later moved back to Kobar prison despite his medical condition.

 

Dr. Medani, who is 76 years of age, suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes for which he has prescribed medication. According to the information received, the NISS refused to allow him to take his medications with him when he was arrested

 

SHRN is deeply concerned about the ongoing arbitrary detention of Mr. Farouk Abu Eisa, Dr. Amin Mekki Medani, Dr. Farah Ibrahim Mohamed Al-Agar, Eng. Mohamed Eldude, Dr. Adam Dawood Elhassan, Mr. Abdallah Ekheishen, Mr. Al-Haj Gadem Azraq, and other opposition leaders and human rights activists in Sudan.

 

SHRN urges Khartoum government to immediately release all detainees, as no legal charges are made. Those who detain them must guarantee the health and physical integrity of all detainees.
