Ibrahim Magzoub Khalid Ali has been arrested after addressing a student gathering at the University of the Nile Valley College of Engineering, in Atbara, northern Sudan, and taken from the college campus to the police station where he has been released, but re-arrest and he was taken by elements of the Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) to an undisclosed location in Atbara (north Sudan), where
he suffered from acute appendicitis and was moved to the McNemir hospital in Shendi (north Khartoum) then to the intelligence and Security Services hospital “Al Amal Alwatani” in Bahri (Khartoum North), where he underwent an appendectomy on Friday, January 19, 2012 after was very close to the blast, as reported by the surgeon. The authorities did not initiate any contact or inform any of his family members.
Ibrahim Magzoub Khalid Ali were transferred from the hospital to Kober prison (Khartoum North), where his health continue to deteriorate, and then transferred back to “Al Amal Alwatani” hospital, where his family were allowed a short visit, not to exceed ten minutes, his family reported that it was very difficult to identify their son, who was exudes health and vitality.
Sudanese Human Rights Network (SHRN) is deeply concerned about the health status of Mr. Ibrahim Magzoub and the circumstances of his arrest, and held Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) responsible for his health and personal safety.
SHRN calls for the immediate release of Mr. Ibrahim since no valid legal charges have been made.

- Urging the Sudanese authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Mr. Ibrahim Magzoub.
- Requesting assurances that he is being humanly treated, that he has immediate and regular access to his family, lawyers, and any necessary medical attention.
